Your friends at Blitz Facial Bar
When should I arrive for my appointment?
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to complete a health form and speak to your aesthetician. Should you arrive late, we will make every effort to accommodate you during the remaining time of your scheduled appointment.
Do I need to remove my makeup?
No. We will remove your face make-up and let your esthetician know if you would like your eye make-up removed. Just relax, close your eyes and let us look after you.
Do I have to change before my facial?
No. We will drape a Blitz Facial Bar cape over you and a soft blanket to keep you cozy.
Who will be giving me my facial?
One of our highly-trained aestheticians (most are medically certified) will perform your facial. Advanced treatments, such as micro-needling rejuvenation, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, IPL and skin rejuvenation will be performed by a medical aesthetician.
What products do you use in your facials?
We use products from our Body Blitz Skin Care line. They are Canadian-made, natural and highly effective. For certain treatments, such as our chemical peel and oxygen therapy, we use carefully selected products conducive to the treatment.
How will I know which facial or booster/dermal booster is right for me?
We offer a complimentary consultation, which can be booked at the same time as your facial. Your aesthetician will provide you with a full skin analysis and guide you as to which facial and booster/dermal booster is best suited for your skin type and skin concerns.
Will my skin look red afterwards?
After most facials, your skin will be radiant and healthy. However, if your skin is sensitive, it may appear a little pink following microdermabrasion and IPL. For our most advanced treatments, such as certain chemical peels and micro-needling rejuvenation, you may experience some soreness, redness and tightness. A post-care treatment card is provided.
Can I wear makeup after my facial?
Ideally, we prefer that you allow your skin to continue to absorb the nutrients and hydration without make-up. However, putting on make-up after will not harm your facial.
Do you do facials for men?
Yes, and we are finding that more men are booking facials. All of our facial treatments work well for men, however, we developed a facial (The Blitz Man) to specifically address men’s skin.
What facial should I get before my wedding or big event?
For the day of, we suggest either a Blitz + Glow or The O2 Blitz (oxygen therapy). 3-6 days prior, we recommend The Micro, The Works, The Extractor, or for men, The Blitz Man. For a chemical peel or IPL, we suggest having it 7-10 days prior. Many brides-to-be book a complimentary consultation approximately 3 months before in order for us to create a personal facial treatment program so that their skin is healthy, fresh, glowing, and gorgeous on their wedding day.
Why is it so important to have a regular facial, and how often should I have one?
Being pro-active and looking after your skin is the best way to slow down the signs of aging, and to keep your skin clear, healthy and nourished. Having a monthly facial performed by a professional addresses skin concerns and anti-aging, and it promotes long-term healthy, clean and youthful skin.
Can my aesthetician give me advice on my skin care routine?
Yes. One of our aestheticians can work with you to help you develop a skin care program taking into consideration your skin type, concerns and goals. This program would combine certain facial treatments and an at-home skin care routine.
Are you wheelchair accessible?
Yes. Clients with special requirements are encouraged to advise a staff member prior to a facial so that we can accommodate accordingly.
What is your skin care philosophy?
Blitz Facial Bar believes facials are a necessity, not a luxury. Good skin care requires an effective skin care program, which includes consistent facial treatments and diligent skin care routine using quality products. Our facial treatments have been carefully curated to be effective and relaxing, with the goal of producing and maintaining healthy, clear and beautiful skin.
What is your product return policy?
Unopened product can be exchanged or returned for a Blitz Facial Bar credit within 30 days of purchase.
Blitz Facial Bar adheres to a strict hygiene policy. Before every treatment, all tools and equipment are sanitized with hospital-grade disinfectant. During extractions, our aestheticians wear disposable gloves.
There is a 24-hour cancellation policy for individuals and a 48-hour cancellation policy for group bookings of 3 or more people. Please note that you will be charged 50% of your treatment price if you fail to show up for your appointment.

What is IPL?
IPL is an effective treatment for lightening and removing sun damage, age and brown spots. It decreases pore size, and reduces inflammation, rosacea, dilated capillaries and enlarged blood vessels. It also improves skin structure by stimulating collagen.
How does the Light and Laser treatment enhance the look of blood vessels, rosacea, as well as age spots or freckles?
IPL releases a range of light waves that target the hemoglobin (red blood cells in the blood vessels) or melanin (the brownish pigment in freckles/age spots). The light beam travels through the skin as it is absorbed by either hemoglobin or melanin, damaging the vessel wall or fragmenting the melanin pigment, making them less visible upon healing.
How many treatments do I need?
For best results, we recommend 3-6 treatments. However, this depends on the level of sun damage, redness, rosacea and pigmentation. Treatments are performed one month apart.
Does it hurt during the treatment?
There may be moderate discomfort while the treatment is being performed – almost like a zapping ting each time the laser hits your skin. The first treatment is often the most ‘lively’, but as your skin begins to clear, the treatments become more comfortable.
Exactly what should I expect during a treatment?
IPL will be performed by one of our highly-trained medical aestheticians who will begin by explaining the treatment and thoroughly cleansing your skin. Your eyes will be shielded from the laser light and a cooling gel will be applied. The laser’s heated pulsed light will touch your skin multiple times to increase elastin fibres and induce your skin’s natural healing mechanism.
How do I prepare for my IPL treatment?
We recommend 2-4 weeks prior to your treatment, avoid self-tanners as well as excessive sun exposure. You should also stop taking minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline or Retin-A/Renova several days before each session.
Are there any side effects?
The primary adverse effects are mild; temporary swelling, inflammation, redness, slight darkening of brown spots, and crusting.
Will the IPL make me more sensitive to sunlight?
No, it will not. You can have the treatment done at any time of the year. However, during summer, you will have to protect your skin from the sun by applying an effective SPF and wearing a sunhat. Doing so will help maintain the results of your treatment and prevent further skin damage.
What will I look like after the IPL treatment, and what is the recovery time?
Generally, your skin will look a little red after the treatment. This should only last a few hours. Those with sensitive or delicate skin, the slight redness may last for two to five days. Blemishes and age spots will look darker for 3-7 days. Crusting may take place and last up to 10 days
Pigmentation will start to clear and typically be resolved in one month. It takes an average of 3-6 treatments to clear most age spots. Make-up can be used right after the treatment but should be applied and removed delicately.
How long will the results last from IPL treatments?
If you follow a good skin care program and protect your skin from the sun (oftentimes the underlying culprit), the effects should last approximately 12 months. However, if you want to maintain collagen growth, we recommend a treatment series every 6 to 12 months.
How does a IPL boost collagen production?
The laser light by-passes the external layer of skin (epidermis) and gently heats up the cells in the deeper layer of skin (dermis). These cells, called fibroblasts, begin to generate more collagen, which enhances skin texture as well as reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
What is a Micro-Needling Rejuvenation?
It is a skin treatment procedure that involves an electric skin-needling device. This device contains very fine needles to break down old scar tissue and increase cell generation. Cell production leads to the creation of new layers of elastin and collagen fibre, and improved blood flow in the skin.
How does Micro-Needling Rejuvenation work?
The device slides along the skin and penetrates the upper layers of the skin to a depth of up to 2mm, to create tiny wounds. This signals the body to respond by producing collagen and elastin fibres. As a result, the skin becomes fuller, thus reducing the appearance of scars and fine lines and wrinkles.
What skin conditions can be treated or improved with Micro-Needling Rejuvenation?
Mild to moderate acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, sagging skin, skin texture, and enlarged pore size.
What does the procedure involve?
We begin by explaining the procedure and thoroughly cleansing your skin before applying a numbing topical. A collagen-stimulating product, such as our hyaluronic serum, will also be used. A small pen, consisting of 12 tiny micro-point needles, creates micro injuries to the skin. As a result, your body’s natural healing process kicks-in to stimulate collagen production in the dermis.
Those who may be afraid of needles, the device uses micro-needles varying in size from 0.5 to 2.0 mm, which are incredibly tiny. The needles are gentle enough to be used around the eye area.
What will I look like after the treatment?
Most people will notice redness and mild swelling, similar to a light sunburn, for 24-48 hours. There may also be slight pinpoint bleeding and/or bruising. Skin will be noticeably smoother and more radiant within a week or two. Full results will continue to improve over a few months.
Is Micro-Needling painful?
Prior to the treatment, a numbing topical is applied to minimize discomfort that is felt during the procedure.
How many treatments do I need, and how often can they be repeated?
Micro-Needling can be safely done every 4-6 weeks. Collagen induction requires at least 3 treatments, while scar reduction requires between 3-6 treatments every 4 weeks. The number of treatments required depends on the skin’s condition.
What should I avoid on my skin after treatment?
AHAs (glycolic acid), retinol, acidic or active ingredients should not be used for 2-3 days after treatment to allow for maximum healing. Sun exposure is not recommended, and sunscreen is encouraged. Avoid alcohol consumption 24 hours pre and post treatment.
Am I a candidate for Micro-Needling Rejuvenation?
Micro-Needling Rejuvenation is safe on all skin types and colours because it does not emit light, and the epidermis is not damaged during treatment. Chances of a change in pigmentation, or post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation are minimal. Micro-Needling can be used on sensitive and fragile areas (eyes, neck, and décolleté) that cannot be treated easily with other procedures.
Do I need to shave prior to my treatment?
We recommend that you do not shave the day of the facial as some treatments or ingredients may irritate freshly shaven skin.
Will a facial help with a dull looking beard?
Our products are optimized to work with facial hair. Our beard oil is formulated with argan and jojoba oil, which helps bring lackluster beard hair back to life by adding shine and hydration, and combatting flaky skin and dandruff. We customize our treatments to work with the condition of your skin and beard.
Which booster is right for me?
Our add-on boosters target specific skin concerns. For example, The Cold Plunge helps close enlarged pores while On The Bright Side brightens and hydrates tired skin.
How do I know which skincare products are right for me?
Our esthetician will assess your skin and recommend which products are best suited for your skin type and concerns, and lifestyle. Feel free to bring in the products you are currently using.
Can I use IPL or Micro-Needling Rejuvenation if I still want my facial hair intact?
You can choose from an array of services but we advise against using the IPL treatment as it will capture the hair follicle and can cause permanent hair loss on bearded areas.
Instead, we would recommend a regular facial along with our laser spot treatment dermal booster, to target only specific areas of concern. As Micro-Needling is not light induced it is safe to use in bearded areas and with all skin types.
